Het een investering die voor een lange periode mee moet gaan en waar men op moet kunnen vertrouwen. Én niet geheel onbelangrijk, er wordt omzet mee gegenereerd. Oftewel, dit vraagt een weloverwogen beslissing. In deze blog geeft Erik Deckers (specialist praktijkinrichting) 5 nuttige tips waarop te letten bij aanschaf van een nieuwe behandelunit.  **1**. **Inventarisatie** De gemiddelde behandelunit gaat tien tot vijftien jaar mee. Het is dan ook goed om te kijken naar wat de praktijk en behandelaar nodig heeft, voor nu én de toekomst. Een goede inventarisatie en adviesgesprek is dan ook van belang. Hoe ziet uw dagelijks werkproces eruit? Wat mist u aan uw huidige behandeleenheid? Wat vindt u belangrijk? Welke opties moeten er op? Dit zijn vragen die ik mijn klanten stel om een duidelijk beeld te krijgen van hun wensen. Vervolgens bied ik de opties aan die hieraan voldoen, het gaat om de juiste oplossing voor de behandelaar en praktijk. Een goede voorbereiding zorgt ervoor dat u gericht kunt zoeken naar een behandelunit die bij uw praktijk past. **2**. **Bedrijfszekerheid** Op een behandeleenheid moet een praktijk kunnen rekenen. Continuïteit is dan ook het sleutelwoord. Bij aanschaf van apparatuur wordt vaak vergeten dat je daarbij ook voor een aantal jaar afhankelijk zult zijn van het dental depot. Maak daarom een bewuste keuze voor een partner dat betrouwbaar is en dat zijn servicedienst goed heeft ingericht. Beschikt het depot over een landelijk netwerk aan specialisten? Hoe snel wordt u geholpen bij storing? Kan er hulp op afstand worden geboden? Hoe is de relatie met de fabrikant? Welke aanvullende services zijn interessant voor mij? **3. Merk** Het is verstandig om naar de merken zelf te kijken met het oog op betrouwbaarheid en kwaliteit. Heeft u zelf geen ervaring met het merk? Vraag naar referenties van collega-praktijken die werken met het merk dat wordt overwogen. Als het mogelijk is te kiezen voor één merk voor alle kamers, dan adviseer ik dat te doen. Dat is gemakkelijk voor de uitwisseling van apparatuur en vooral ook voor hygiëne en onderhoud. Ook voor personeel is het veel eenvoudiger om met één systeem te werken. De equipmentspecialisten en monteurs kennen de merken dan ook door en door. **4 Aanvullende services** Verbouwing, verhuizing en de start van een nieuwe praktijk zijn vaak een aanleiding tot de aanschaf van een behandeleenheid of andere apparatuur. Bij praktijkinrichting is samenwerking met bijvoorbeeld de aannemer of architect van groot belang. Henry Schein biedt diverse aanvullende services in dit proces. Denk aan begeleiding bij bouwvergaderingen, ruimtelijk en technisch advies voor praktijkinrichting en financieringsmogelijkheden. **5 Prijs** Een belangrijke factor, maar toch zou het niet het eerste criterium moeten zijn om je keuze te maken. Te vaak maak ik mee dat als de tandarts gaat voor een low-budget-unit daar heel vaak op terugkomt. Een paar keer een storing levert al snel duizenden euro inkomstenderving op, waarmee de goedkopere aanschafkosten snel teniet zijn gedaan. Zeker als een unit niet langer dan een jaar of zeven blijkt mee te gaan, wordt goedkoop al snel duurkoop.
